Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. Blood is needed in hospitals and emergency treatment facilities for patients with cancer and other diseases, for organ transplant recipients, and to help save the lives of accident victims. An average emergency room uses between four and forty units of blood to treat a single accident victim.
Currently only 3 out of 100 Americans donate blood. Giving blood is safe, easy, and fast. Anyone at least 17 years of age, weighing 110 pounds or more and in good health may be eligible to donate blood. Registration is requested but not necessary. To schedule an appointment, or for more information, please call (518) 268-5950 or visit us on the web at www.setonhealth.org.
