TROY, N.Y. - Seton Health/St. Mary's Hospital and Samaritan Hospital/Northeast Health will kick off a joint healthy heart program called "Just Walk With a Doc," featuring one-mile walks with an area cardiologist beginning Saturday, May 14, 8 - 10 a.m., Troy Farmer's Market, Broadway,
Dr. Robert Benton, of Capital Cardiology, will offer a short educational program on the importance of exercise, and lead participants in the one-mile walk downtown. The walk will enable participants to ask medical questions in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. Free blood pressure checks will be available after the walk.
The Just Walk With a Doc program is designed to educate and encourage physical activity to improve health. Just 30 minutes of walking a day can reduce the risk of heart disease, improve blood pressure and blood sugar, elevate mood, and reduce the risk of osteoporosis, cancer and diabetes.
All events are open to the public free of charge. Walkers must sign a liability waiver prior to participating. The walks will be held rain or shine. For more information, please contact (518) 833-6749.
